![]() Why are we not aware of the growing divide? And why isn't anything being done about it? It is because poverty is seen as a natural phenomenon when in reality it is a political problem: poverty doesn't just exist, it has been created. The world's richest 62 people now control more wealth than the poorest 3.5 billion. Over 1 billion live on less than $1 a day. Today 4.3 billion people, more than 60% of the population, live on less than $5 per day. In 1960, per capita income was 32 times higher in the richest country than the poorest country.
